Weighing In ...
Assessing assessment

WEA RA delegates are currently discussing and debating the good, the bad and the ugly about high stakes testing. Discussion is centered around a national resolution protesting high-stakes standardized testing. The resolution was released this week by a coalition of groups. Earlier this month, some 500 students north of Seattle refused to take a high stakes test in protest. Weigh in on this as your colleagues are at RA.

Day Two at RA

Today's WEA Representative line-up includes business, recognition of Teacher of the Year Mark Ray and WEA ESP of the Year Pat Nicholson. Delegates hear from WEA President Mary Lindquist, WEA-endorsed gubernatorial candidate Jay Inslee and NEA Executive Director John Stocks. Delegates continue to debate, discuss and shape policy for the coming year.

Annual RA begins

WEA’s Representative Assembly kicks off this evening. Some 1100 WEA delegates are meeting in Spokane for the next few days to shape WEA policy for the next year. Members are going to hear from WEA President Mary Lindquist, WEA Executive Director John Okamoto, many guest speakers and one another as they deliberate upon and vote on decisions that will set the course for WEA for the coming year.
